The amount of wetting and dispersing agent in chemical applications is often a question that customers need to ask. So how much do we need to add in the production of our own formulations? Today, the editor will briefly talk about this situation to avoid unsatisfactory results in testing or production.
Usually the supplier will recommend the additive amount at the same time as the sample of the additive, but this recommended amount is only rough and the accuracy is poor. When in use, a systematic and accurate test should be carried out according to the conditions introduced above and the requirements of formula design. The specific surface area of the pigment and the fineness of dispersion should be a reference condition for the amount of dispersant added. The larger the specific surface area, the smaller the dispersion fineness, and the more dispersant should be added. For example, Houhuan Chemical’s dispersant would suggest a dosage of about 2% of the total formula, subject to a step experiment.
There are many methods to determine the amount of addition, no matter which method needs to be actually tested, the stability of the pigment dispersion and the effect of the dispersant addition can be determined by heating storage or storage at room temperature. Therefore, the addition amount needs to be judged before and after, rather than at that time, it is OK. Chemical testing requires careful and continuous testing of stability, so that you can achieve your ideal wetting and dispersing effect, as well as mass production.
